Class 14: Hip Abduction/Adduction

This class is all about the hips!
Abduction and adduction work together and yet very few people train both appropriately, causing hip weakness referring pain to the back and knee. Abduction is important for hip stability when standing or balancing on one leg, which occurs during 80% of walking and 100% of running. Any lateral drills you perform also require good hip abduction. Adduction is necessary when going into half or full splits. Because we sit down so much during the day or sit with our legs crossed, our groin muscles become very tight, and this class helps address those deficits.
The three base positions we work in this class are brand new: frog, sidelying and half kneeling split. Modify as necessary using yoga blocks, pillows, dowels and sticks as necessary, and hope you enjoy the class!
