Class 13: Backbends
New March Classes

41m
This class is all about backbends, a movement we all use to achieve a state of grace, elegance and class. Yet what we don’t realize is that controlling our backbends not only means owning your range and being strong in it, but also being strong in all the other directions of your spine as well as demonstrating proper segmentation.
The first half of the class is going through the basics of backbends:
Hinge point training and segmentation/PRH on our stomach and using a stability ball.
Then we progress to camel pose and standing backbends to gain more ROM using PAILS/RAILS.
For those of you who aren’t ready for the camel pose and standing exercises, keep practicing the hinge point and PRH techniques in the first half of the class and gradually work your way up.
Most important take away is to go slow, esp when coming OUT of the backbends. This is the sticky point for many people who may end up experiencing lightheadedness or dizziness because they go too far into the ROM. Start SLOW and GRADUALLY work your way deeper! The goal is to gradually increase your ROM over time :)
Hope you enjoy this class and drop me some feedback in the comments, forums or private messaging.
